cigarettes and cancer

Question Posted Sunday December 15 2013, 11:08 pm

Okay this may sound corny... but I'm trying to get my boyfriend to quit smoking by coming up with informational and educational fact sheets about why its bad for your health. and I'm trying to figure out why it causes not only lung cancer, but other cancers as well.. can anyone help me find some sites that give the reasons for this? or does anyone know biology enough to help me out in this area? thanks!

Hello There! :-)

How very sweet of you to care to this degree.

I must say though that when controlling someone with fear, results will NEVER come. This is tried and true.

It is natural to want to show loved ones all the "damage" the things they do are doing to them, because we feel this will deter them from taking it any further.

To be honest, this method does not work, as much as we would love it to. And please know that cigs DO NOT cause Cancer, this is what I mean by controlling someone with Fear. Society says they cause Cancer and it is the farthest from the truth, unless the person truly believes the "lie".

He is smoking because he is radiating high energies that he doesn't know what to do with. His anxiety is becoming more than he can bare. Usually smoking cigs is a way to cover up parts of us, like our creativity, our ability to create what is within us and put it out into the world around us, in fear we may be judged.

Help him find himself and the things that present the opportunity for him to CREATE! In return you will find yourself and you two can CO-CREATE a world of beauty, peace, joy, happiness, and Love.

Much Love, Light, Healing, and Blessings to you and all you Love. <3

You probably just want infographics. They will save you some time and effort. You can just google "Smoking infographic" and come up with quite a few (a few of which will be pro-weed or pro-cigar, but most will be health related.)

I did just that and came up with this one:

I do have to second what Zane said however:
When it comes to helping someone with a bad habit, listening is almost always more effective than teaching. If he wants to quit, the best help you can give him is not information, it's patience and support.

Edit: Maybe this wasn't the answer to your question but after all this is an ADVICE site isn't it? Well, This is my ADVICE and I still stand by what I said either way. Good luck

This is thoughtful advice but I have a few concerns on it..

In order to help someone to stop smoking they need to have the want to quit or it just won't work. Throwing facts about why it's bad for your health is probably only going to really either annoy the crap out of him or piss him off. People don't always like it when they have someone throw or point out a problem about their habits. I would suggest talking to him first, Maybe find him some other sort of option but I wouldn't go this route unless he has talked about wanting to quit first...
