Learn to play the guitar

Hey guys! I have been wanting to learn to play the guitar. My brother is 13 right now and is teaching himself to play and he doesn't sound too bad at it.
I have been listening to a lot of Jimi and other bands and artists and I want to learn to play the guitar.
I use to play the saxophone back in middle school but dropped that. I would have to learn to re-read music but that wouldn't be too hard.
Some people I know said learning guitar would be easier if I could play the piano (which I can't) is this true?
Any advice or any ideas on how to learn to play the guitar? Is it hard to pick up and learn quick?

If you want to learn how to play the guitar, get a guitar and practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, PRACTICE...
Remember chords and a few songs you like listening to, to begin with.
But remember to HAVE FUN when you play.
That's a good start.
