Ok, I seriously hope you arent just going to use this information to become bulimic...I am 3 months clean of bulimia and its painful and generally unpleasant.its a form of ocd, and has a lot to do with self esteem.Fingers are not always used to trigger the gag reflex, I never was able to do that. I tended to use a pecil, knitting needle, straw, chopstick, something like that. Bulimics who use fingers often develope calluses on their knuckles by always rubbing on teeth, these can be quite noticable and painful. Bulimics teeth are often corroded and it messes with your heart, mine arent because I brushed during and after.People who suffer from this actual desease often disapear after meals, They may return quiet or with tears in their eyes due to the pain and force of throwing up.Some even soil themselves during. You may notice the bulimic eating less and soft foods that taste good disapearing after they have been alone, bulimics will binge then purge immediatly afterwards.Weight may drop dangerously fast and you may notice drains being clogged. Most purge into a toilet, but some do so in the shower so its much cleaner but it may clog shower drains and an acidic smell may mervade their bedrooms.Contrary to popular beleif, boys can be just as bulimic as girls.Any sufferer must get help before permanent damage is done, this is irreversable.Bulimics may show signs of depression and could have anorexia and or self harming issues. If you have anymore questions inbox me.Good luvk on your paper!

I don't know a lot-I can only go on personal experience.
Bulimia is a way for sufferers to regain control over their lives in some way.
I had a spell of this, because bulimia is a side effect of an anti depressant.
How I made myself sick-often on an empty stomach-was by first sticking my tongue out and heaving. (This made my eyes water) And then, after about four attempts I would be sick.

The risks of being bulimic depend on genetics and your environment. Also on whether you have anxiety or depression or have any other mental illness that means you have lost control over your life.

My bulimic episode lasted no longer than two weeks, and it was the worst two weeks of my life. I'm 18 now and just thinking back to my experiences with this just over a year ago now has been hard tbh, but I hope I helped :)

Most bulimics stick a finger down their throat to trigger their gag reflex. We all have one which is located at the back of the throat. In some people this reflex is quite high in others it's is further down. This reflex is meant to help prevent choking. IF the gag reflex is lower in the throat they may use a spoon or something to trigger the reflex.

There are two very serious problems associated with bulimia:

1. The acids in the stomach are also vomited along with the food contents. These acids can burn the esophagus permanently harming it making eating and drinking and even talking impossible.

2. When a person vomits the electrolytes, the chemicals that the body operates off of become imbalanced. If not corrected many different things can happen such as heart attacks, kidney & liver failure all of which can lead to death.

Bulimia is both a physical and mental illness. Before doctors can treat the mental illness they have to treat the physical ills that may have been brought on by the bulimia.

This means that the person suffering is first admitted to a general hospital ward where the problems are treated and the person is monitored to control the bulimia. After the body is healed the patient is then generally moved to a hospital that specializes in eating related disorders. Hospitalizations can last from a few weeks to six months or more depending on how compliant the patient is.
