This law allows for anyone over 14 to seek out a doctor for anything related to their reproductive system without parental permission, be treated by the doctor all with strict medical confidentiality. Parents cannot be told for what you are being treated for without your expressed written permission.
Congress did not write this law to give teenagers license for sex. They did so to ensure that teenagers sought out proper medical advice when needed for problems with their reproductive systems. Why? Because it was found that most teenagers are reluctant to go to their parents with these types of problems. Now whenever a doctor is examining a male or female reproductive system parents are not allowed in the exam room if the child is over 14 years of age. This insures their medical privacy.
So you can go to any pharmacy and purchase condoms and cannot be turned away. If you cannot afford to purchase condoms go to any planned parenthood office and they will be given to you free or for little cost. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]
