Pay scale always depends on who the employer is. A lifeguard who works for the YMCA vs X, Y, Z pool may get a different pay cheque for the same job. When you are hired compensation will be something your employer discusses right off.

I'm not sure what the test completely entails but as long as your CPR training, proper swim levels and skills are achieved and you know how to rescue people and can prove it you will do fine.

The training no doubt will solidify the skills you already have and teach you a ton more you hadn't considered. Fun means something different to each person but in this case the focus is on saving people's live and everything else is secondary as you know.
