Some of your letter isn't clear to me so I have to guess. If paramedics are mentioned I can only guess there was possibly violence towards himself, you or the kids. If you are having nightmares and have experienced trauma that i can't begin to imagine, you need to see a counselor. The kids may need counseling too.
We often feel we have lost everything when we place all life value in the things and people around us. Its hard if we put so much effort in and then its pulled away from us.
As souls having a human experience, sometimes it takes a different perspective to be able to find it easier to understand and piece a life together.
Sometimes we simply need to change our focus from striving so hard to gain a soul mate, husband, lover, a house, a job, to striving just as hard instead for that of spiritual value to us. Something that can never be taken from us is the love of our Creator. When I was in an abusive marriage, it was my relationship with my Mother/Father God that kept me sane and feeling like there was a reason to go on. I felt love from Spirit and that helped me to start a new life, find time to heal. I even got some counseling and then I finally met the wonderful husband I have today. If you have a spiritual path, I suggest you find some comfort there, if not, it would be a good idea to seek one out...it doesnt matter which as long as you feel it feeding you spiritually and helping you grow stronger.
