Try using oragel or some numbing cream for mouth pain. Wax won't help you because wax is for braces and they stick onto the metal. It's for when you feel part of the braces poking your gums. The spacers feel like they're digging into your gums because your gums are really swollen because of the spacers. Pulling them out won't really help you because when you go back to the orthodontist, they're gonna put it right back in and the pain will start all over again., You honestly just have to bear with it for the time it lasts and ask the orthodontist what he/she recommends for the pain. You could try wax (normally get it from an orthodontist or dentist) They come in small slabs and if you rub it along the gums it will ease the pain.
You could try a hot water bottle against your mouth (not so it scolds it) but so the pain is eased.
To be honest when I had mine put it I went straight to bed! I just took some paracetemol and held a water bottle against my mouth and slept the pain off. Just like the common cold, your body needs the chance to recover from the pain, so I think bed rest is the best.
Also don't eat anything too hard, eat luke warm soup and tea until it gets better. You will get used to it!.
