I am 22 years old and been with my 28 year old boyfriend for a few months. We currently live together in a house that he owns, and are actually really happy. The only problem is my boyfriend has a strain of HPV that causes Genital warts. I have had a recent pap smear and it came out negative, and am currently in between my gardasil shots, but im still a bit confused as to how HPV works. I understand that it is a sexually transmitted disease, but i have heard a few people say that genital warts are external on men and internal on women. Is this true? And if they are how will i know if i have genital warts? They will show up on a pap smear correct? When i was a child i had warts on my hands and my body built up a natural resistance too them. They just vanished over night without any outside treatment. Could this mean that I am naturally resistant to all kinds of warts? Or just planters warts? Its just quite confusing for me at this time. I know that no one on this site is a doctor and believe me im going to ask my doctor all of this the next time i go in for my shot, but i was just looking for a few answers until then. Any answers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
