Bleeds caused by trauma are more problematic then say bleeds caused by a stroke as generally there are other systems hurt in the trauma as well. Not all strokes are fatal even if there is a head bleed. It all depends on the type of bleed and if any type of intervention can stop the bleed.
In many cases the bleed causes other problems and the patient remains in a coma for long periods of time or remains in a vegetative state. When death occurs it is from system failure and not directly the result of the bleed.
Death that is a direct result from a bleed can take anywhere from hours, days or even weeks. It all depends on the patients will to live and how hard the doctors fight to save the patient.

For example, if the membrane around your brain is bleeding, drop everything and go to the emergency room. If you're bleeding from your ear, you'll be fine, just get to the doctors asap. [ TarnishedAngels's advice column | Ask TarnishedAngels A Question ]
