Question Posted Tuesday October 16 2012, 3:40 am

Help!! I had sex and he wore a condom and came inside the condom. I took a test a few days before my period and it came out negative. I'm still waiting for my period and I was supposed to start on the 15th. Am I pregnant or could it be stress? The comdom did not break. I think I just might be stressed. However I am getting cramps down there. Should I start soon?

We get a lot of questions of this type. You most likely are not pregnant and stress will cause your period to be late or even skipped.

Condoms though are only 85% effective in preventing pregnancy. For the best birth control you should be on some form of birth control as well as using condoms. Yes; I know your mother won't allow it or your afraid to ask your mom.

Instead of lecturing you on the evils of having sex at a young age how about I tell you about the law and birth control instead.

If you are over 14 years of age, and hopefully you are. There is a Federal Law called HIPPA,which stands for; Health Information Personal Privacy Act. Within this law is a section for young people over the age of 14 and their sexual reproductive health.

Under this law you have medical privacy for any condition related to your reproductive system. You can make doctors appointments and be seen by a doctor with or without parental permission for any problem concerning your reproductive system. This would include your breasts. You can ask for and receive birth control with or without parental permission. Anything you see the doctor for, say to the doctor, be treated by the doctor for is totally confidential.

No one, including your parents can be told why you have visited the doctor or what you are being treated for without your written permission. You mother or father for that matter, may not be in the exam room with you if they accompany you to the doctor without your permission.

You cannot be forced, by anyone including your parents, to have any procedure dealing with your reproductive system; such as an abortion. There is one exception and that exception is any life saving procedure for which by law parental permission is required to preform.

So under the HIPPA law if you want birth control you can get it. You can go to your doctor or any of the free clinics that may be in your area.

The only other advice I can offer you is that if you are going to be this stressed out after sex that your period is late or skipped altogether? This amount of stress is not good for you at all.

You might want to reconsider abstaining from sex until your older. If your boyfriend is saying anything like you need to have sex with me or I'm out of here. Find another boy friend for he doesn't love you or respect you. What he has is lustful desires that he wants you to fulfill. That is not love.
