Give him time and space. There is a chance that he will end up liking you, but not if you bother him. It was very brave of you to tell him that you liked him and it wasn't necessarily in vain. When you find out that someone likes you, it may be shocking at first, but knowing that someone likes you will sometimes make you like them back. It may take some time, though. I am sorry to tell you this but you can't make someone like or love you. They feel what they want to feel. If he says he only likes you as a friend well then that's what he means. I suggest you continue to be his friend and move on to someone that likes you just as much as you like them.
