Question about this site.
Hello, you have helped me before on answering my questions a little better by changing my format.
Since you seem very familiar with this site, give good advice, and mentioned you are older I was hoping for your honest input.
I've been getting private messages from people that are inappropriate, so inappropriate that I am not going to repeat them. I have rejected all of them, which is not a big deal.
Then, today someone (a male) asked me about girl's putting their hand over a guy’s mouth and nose. I answered that I'm not sure the purpose of the question but I tried my best to be diplomatic about it.
The same person came back describing themselves, in detail to me asking me "how much noise,” I think they would make if MY hand was over their mouth "from behind." I responded saying if this was something sexual, I found it very inappropriate and felt that if I was going to answer any more questions I'd like to know what the reason is for them. I even asked if the person was writing a murder mystery novel since he claimed to be a writing looking for "input."
He didn't care for my last response, but my question is, do you think I was wrong to assume that there was something veiled behind his question?

Let's start with the private questions. Each of us are shown as the featured advisor at different times. When you are the featured advicer you will receive more private messages at that time then any other time. As you answer more questions you will also build a following of those people who you build a trust in you and they will private message you when they want advise.
You are not required to answer any question you feel is inappropriate or that you are not able to offer any positive advice on. When it comes to inappropriate questions you may if you wish too, report these question as abuse to the moderators. They will review the question and if the find the question abusive and outside the guidelines of this site. They will ban the user from this site.
As you answer more and more questions you will get to know when there is something beyond what is written. There have been many times when I have answered a question with an answer totally different from the way the question was worded. In almost every instance the writer has replied, "How did you know that is what I mean."
Part of it is I'm older and raised my own children and I am able to can at times see beyond the question. Another part is I must have answered and read several hundred questions.
As I said you are not required to answer all questions. Private message questions can simply be rejected or as I do in some instances I send back a reply saying this is not an area of expertise for me. Try putting your question on the open forum or I might recommend another adviser.
I would not say you were wrong to assume something that wasn't asked. The writer may not like your answer. Most important is you have to be comfortable with your answer or you should not answer the question.
