I'm a terrible sleep walker. I remember one day, I was sleep walking. I was sweating terribly. My mother and grandmother came into my room, and they said I was speaking fluently in the language that my family originally speak.
The thing is, I don't really know any of the language. I've been bought up listening to family speaking, and I get by, but I cannot have a conversation speaking it. I struggle, and I only really know the basics.
My mother told me I was speaking really fluently, in a dialect, speaking really fast and shouting.
So what could be the explanation for this? Could it be possible that my subconscious remembered the language whilst hearing people speak, and that I'm holding it in my brain?
It's always something that has made me think, so any help would be great.
Cheers :)

Rena-Chan answered Wednesday August 15 2012, 9:20 am: It is entirely possible. You heard the language growing up, correct? My family is the same way on both counts. My fathers side spoke German, my mothers side spoke Japanese. I could never speak it, but I knew what they were saying. In time, I decided to learn both.Chances are, the reason for this, is because you grow up hearing more of English than you do of the other language. I'm sure like me, you know the languages, just incapable of "bringing it out". So do what I did, find teaching programs online, and "learn" it. Considering you know it subconsciously, you'll learn it in no time. [ Rena-Chan's advice column | Ask Rena-Chan A Question ]
