Another braces question!
This question is about my sisters braces, so I can't give too much detail on how it feels or anything but I'll describe this as best as I can.
My sister got her braces yesterday and they're already causing her discomfort which seems beyond the norm. Hers are different to mine, she has springs in hers and they've put something behind her front teeth (they look like white squares but I have no idea what they are).
The springs on her braces are at the front, and they've made her lip swell up quite bad. Is there any she we can heal this quickly? She's got wax on it and is treating her lip but it looks painful.
*Also if anyone can tell me what the white squares behind her teeth might be, it would be appreciated. It's quite strange, I've never seen or heard of them before! They're not causing her pain, we just want to know what they're for.*

i had braces, and had similar problems.
lip swelling: she is probably sensitive to the springs, this is normal so is discomfort. if you have mouth numbing ointment it wont heal faster or slower but will cause almost NO pain.
white squares: these are to stop her upper teeth from biting/pushing the braces on her bottom teeth.
