I graduated with a degree in business last year and I am very interested to start a career in the aviation industry. Right now I am teaching English overseas but currently I'm searching for a business related position with an airline company. I know there are many engineering and flight attendant jobs available but I'm finding it very difficult to find business related positions in airline companies.
Ideally I want to find a position related to sales or marketing. I have always loved planes so working for an airline company would be my dream job! I have applied online for some positions with airline companies but it seems to be a lost cause as there are so many applicants and many of the positions require experience. I'm not even sure if anyone even looks at my resume when I apply online. I can't help but think there has to be a better way to go about getting into the industry but I'm not sure how.
Does anyone have any advice about how to break into the aviation industry?
At that time the Airline personnel departments didn't have the time to screen applicants they let the agencies do it for them. I never met the people I worked for or with until my first day of work.
That may still be true today. That plus the fact that the airline industry is consolidating making many of the positions redundant and not just the business positions either. There was a time when airlines did have very agressive marketing departments going after business flyers. Today with most planes are leaving the gates with full seats I'm not sure how agressive the marketing departments need to be.
If you really want a job in aviation, look for agaencies that handle only aviation. Interview them and then sign with the one you feel is most trusting and can find you the job you want. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]
