Why don't girls go swimming while wearing pads?

Question Posted Saturday June 16 2012, 8:45 pm

I've heard of at least five girls that claim they will not go swimming unless they are wearing a tampon. I'm just wondering why, because I swim while wearing a pad all the time. Is there something I'm unaware of?

If it leaks, well, lets just say it'll look like shark night. And, a wet pad doesn't absorb as well

Wearing a pad in the water can cause you major embarrassment if you dont keep a good eye on it, && pads absorbing that much water can cause some issues with leaking..but if you havent had any problems then do what makes you comfortable :)

Hey there, Most girls wear tampons Beacause pads have a tendency to leak. Especially whilst under water as the absoebamcy becomes saturated. If you are used to wearing winged pads these can also.show outsode your swim suit. Its to avoid embarrassment incase anything leaks. It also uncpmfortable for most girls. But if it works for you thats okay! :) much <3 Jess 18/f

It can get messy. Pads are made to absorb only so much fluid, so when it's under water, it'll be too full of water to absorb your period.

If you've never experienced any problems with pads while swimming then that's fine! Do what's comfortable for you, but just keep this in mind to avoid any potentially embarrassing moments :)
