Angie1626 answered Monday January 30 2012, 4:49 am: All I can tell you is how it was for me, this doesn't mean it is the average though. I started waitressing 4 months ago with no experience.
1. Started off working between 6 and 11 hours per day for about 3 to 4 days a week. After doctors orders for a foot injury I have I worked 6 hours a day for 3 days a week.
2. Full time student at the time so worked mainly weekends and maybe 1 or 2 shifts during week. Never get weekends off unless approved by boss for a specific reason
3. I make 4.34/ hour before taxes plus tips, which are probably a bit below average where I work, since it's s bowling alley/bar/restaurant. Average for me a month in paycheck is about $150, then if you add my tips to that it ends up being around anywhere from $450 to $600 per month total. You can make easily twice the amount of tips I make if your working at a more upscale, nicer, well known restaurant. [ Angie1626's advice column | Ask Angie1626 A Question ]
