Hello! Well just so you know im one of those girls with a septate hymen. It really worries me. Just like alot of people I noticed it through tampons. I dont really have a hard time getting them in but its hard getting them out. Also im worried because my boyfriend has been talking about "sex". I dont know weather i should go for it or wait untill i learn more about my hymen. I read from some websites that you can remove it youself. I wanted to know how i could do this and if its a good idea or not. Please help, Thanks! (:
From what I have read my suggestion would be to see a Gynecologist and let the doctor take care of this problem. It is a simple office procedure with little to no pain involved and will be done correctly. To attempt to do so at home will probably not be successful, cause you pain and have you seeking a doctors help anyway. So why not skip over the painful part and seek out your gynecologists help to begin with.
Now you have not said how old you are. he fact that you are first finding this problem leads me to believe you may be under age 18.
If you are under 18 but over 14 the following applies to you. While I do not support or suggest you have sexual intercourse at this young age. I do support you at the very least take the proper precautions. In fact the U.S. Congress to an extent felt somewhat the same way when the passed a law called HIPPA.
In that Law anyone over the age of 14 may seek medical help in total privacy and confidentiality. This means you can see your GYN without mom in the exam room and the doctor cannot tell mom what you were examined or treated for. This includes any prescriptions that may be written for you including birth control prescriptions. You must give the doctor written permission to release information to anyone individually. Blanket permission is not acceptable.
One of the purposes of HIPPA was to allow for young people to seek medical help for their reproductive health without parental knowledge or permission. The purpose of this law was not meant solely to allow for birth control but to allow for STD treatment and testing. Pregnancy testing and other reproductive procedures that may be needed. Because of this you can be open and truthful with your doctor so the doctor can properly treat you. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]
