So my hair is pin straight and I hate it. I can never get it to curl or "scruntch" no matter what I use or how long I do it for. I love curly hair and I want corkscrew curls I've been searching forever on how to do it and my friend told me to get a perm. But I don't want to keep getting them over and over again or it to damage me hair. Should I get a perm? How long do they last? How much do they cost to get done proffessionaly?

My hair is fairly straight and usually doesn't curl well or keep curls for long. Below are some of the ways I use to get curls.
French braiding your hair is a good way to get looser curls that should last. I wash my hair at night and wait until it's damp and french braid small sections of my hair (the less hair in each braid, the smaller/tighter waves) and take it out in the morning.
Another way, is to use sleep in curlers. There are many different kinds and brands. The one that works that fastest and the best are ones that have wire inside. You can buy these almost anywhere.
And for less use, clamp less curling wands (I own a variation of the Remington curling wand) are amazing. A cheaper brand that's really nice is Remington. It takes some getting used to, but the curls last for about 1-2 days. Don't forget to use heat protecting spray if you use heat products like this.
