Lyric Meaning? What do is the meaning of the lyrics, "We wake up in the breakdown of the things we never thought we could be," in the song Here is Gone by the Goo Goo Dolls? My interpretation is that it means one day we wake up and realize we've becoming everything we said or thought we never would.
But I need to know if that's the correct interpretation?

Again, there aren't really wrong answers, but here is mine:
"We wake up in the breakdown of things"
First, what are the things? The answer comes next "we never thought we could be" Hence, "We wake up in the break down of [what] we never thought we could be.
Next, what does "wake up" mean? I prefer to think of it as "coming to a realization. So now, this is what we have "We [come to a realization] in the breakdown of [what] we never thought we could be"
So think for a moment, these people were living their lives happily. Becoming the wonderful things they never thought they could achieve, but possibly they weren't taking full advantage of the blessings they have. They only come to realize how wonderful everything in their life was until after it is "breaking down" or falling apart.
Sorry that was a little long!

There is no wrong answer. These lines could suggest something different to every individual. However, in my opinion "And we wake up in the breakdown of the things we never thought we could be " implies that both parties both believed that they could keep it casual and that nobody would want more. Further implying that they ended up the same way everybody else would. ]
