Can I get a bank account with a school ID?

Can I get a bank account if I use my social security card, school Id and birth certificate? Or do I have to have a state ID?

It most likely depends on the banking laws in the state you live in. Where I live I would say you have more than enough identification to satisfy any bank as to who you are.


The best way to find out, is to go to the bank where you want to open an account and ask. Bring your Identification and initial deposit with you so you can open the account if you meet their requirements.


There is a possibility that you may not be allowed to have a checking account. I see no reason why a savings account could not be opened for you.
