ingrown hairs

Question Posted Sunday October 9 2011, 11:44 am

17/f
Every couple of months, I go and get a wax at a spa I trust, and I never get ingrown hairs. However, this past summer, I shaved a little bit "down there" because I didn't have the time to get a wax. Ever since, I've been continuously getting red bumps and some ingrown hairs. There's a lot, and only on the right side. How can I get rid of these bumps and ingrowns? I don't want to sit there for an hour tweezing and trying to get the ingrowns to come out. Also, the razor bumps are getting annoying too. How can I clean it up down there and get rid of all the bumps?

I had the same problem with this, you do need to pull out the ingrown hairs however, avoid using a lot of soap down there, is dries out your skin and irritates it a lot, use a small amount of moisturizing soap and tons of warm water, the way I found to reduce ingrown hairs and irritation is to wax and shave less, space out the sessions of shaving, shaving every other day will irritate your skin. Also do not put lotion on after shaving while your skin is still wet, and don't use scented lotions. wait about a week or two inbetween shaving sessions, and when you shave do it in the shower lather it with a shaving product, soap, or shampoo, pull the skin tight and press lightly, rinse the razor after every stroke.
Hope this helps!
