I got 2 tattoos when I was 17, which I now regret at 29. You mention many times about the important nature of this tattoo to you, yet you do not say what it is. I cannot give sound advice without knowing what you want to ink your body with. I do believe tattoo's are art and would not hold back my 18 year old child from getting one.

Your question remains: Should you get the tattoo? It all comes down to respect. You live with your Mom and Step-Dad. Do you pay rent or buy your own food? Or do they continue to support you in all ways? Do you have a job? Things all to consider because if you don't pay your own way and have a job, you should esentially follow the rules while you live at their house. Being 18 does not mean you make the best choices, it means you can legally do what you want within the law. The fact you question yourself makes me think you know the answer but just want validation.

I would love to have more information to be able to give you more accurant advice. Thanks and good luck!

Get the tattoo! Your 18 and they cant do anything about it, if it is what you want and means alot to you do it. Let them know how much it means to you they might look at it in a different way. If you want one but dont want the to know right away get it in the fall maybe on you foot (anywhere you can hide it) your going to be wearing shoes all winter anyways. once summer comes show them they might feek out a litte but it give it a little time youll be a little older and it shouldnt matter as much

I currently have two tattoos that I got when I was fifteen and sixteen. I don't regret them, and I still love them as much as I did the day I got them.

Personally, I would get the tattoo. At eightteen, you are an adult. You no longer need parental consent to do things.
In my house, once I turn eightteen my parents don't care what I do with my body or what holes I put in it, even if Im still living under their roof.
If I were you, I'd get it done. Some people will never understand the art that is tattooing.

Also remember, tattoos ARE NOT PERMANENT. To get them removed it's A LOT of money and the pain is incredible. But they can be removed if somewhere down the road you decide you no longer want it anymore.
Good luck.
