Can you have unprotected sex during the week of placebo pills?

Question Posted Wednesday August 24 2011, 11:53 am

Hey guys, I'm 18 years old and this is the first month I've ever been on birth control, but I've been having sex for about a year with the same guy. Tonight I take my first "placebo pill" and I was wondering if it's still safe to have sex without a condom while taking the placebo? Since I'm on the pill, we haven't been using condoms but he still pulls out just to be safe. I also know that it's normal to not always get your period during the "placebo week", so if I don't get my period, can we still have sex without a condom? I know I'm not pregnant because when I got the birth control prescription they did a urine and blood pregnancy test and both were negative. So if my period doesn't come, I'm not worried. I haven't gotten a period since May anyways because I've been pretty stressed out over some personal stuff but the doctor tested me just to make sure and I'm definitely not pregnant.

So basically, my question is: If I'm not pregnant but don't get my period during the "placebo pill" week, is it okay to still have sex without a condom?

yeah because the pill starts working after 7 days you start taking it the very first time. After that, the pill is in your system and protects you from pregnancy all the time, even if you are on the placebo pill.
