i used to poke my hand inside the vagina to clean it, is this right? A friend told me I'm not suppose to coz my vagina needs those discharge bacterias! Can u please advise
Your friend is right, discharge is the vagina's natural way of cleaning itself and shouldn't be messed with. It's a myth that you need to constantly and thoroughly clean your vagina for it to be clean.
You should only ever clean the outside of your vagina once or twice a day with a gentle soap and water, or a wash such as Vagisil which is specially formulated for use in that area.
Over washing or using harsh products on your vagina will strip it of its natural bacteria and cause problems such as Thrush and Bacterial Vaginosis. You definitely don't want to be poking anything about up there trying to 'clean' it, you'll almost certainly cause more harm than good. AskSinz answered Saturday August 20 2011, 9:13 pm: You shouldn't do that. You only clean the outside of your vagina because the inside is self cleansing. The only reason why you would use a pessary would be because you have some kind of bacterial infection like thrush. Just clean the outside, what you can see. Hope this helps xx [ AskSinz's advice column | Ask AskSinz A Question ]
