Why is my microwave sparking and making noises when there's no metal in it?
Question Posted Tuesday August 16 2011, 4:47 pm
We havent put metal or spilled anything in the microwave. This microwave is brand new and its sparking when we put food in it. We had another microwave a couple of weeks ago that we threw away because it was sparking and making weird noises. What is causing these microwaves to spark and make noises, they also turned black in the corner inside of it. Why is the new microwave doing this and why did outr old one do it when we havent done anything wrong with it? Could it be the plug on the wall we are using?

Sparking could be caused from split wire or a spill that has leaked into the back of the microwave etc. If it is a new one, Return it and get it exchanged. [ Xui's advice column | Ask Xui A Question ]

It's also possible that it's just a coincidence. Old microwaves can spark and make noise, and you could have gotten a new microwave that is defective. You should be able to exchange it for a new one.
