I've had knee surgery twice and about to have it again. Having the stitches out is painless and takes maybe a minute. If it takes longer the doctor stopped to have coffee.
When the doctor put them in your knee was swollen. When they come out the knee will be back to its normal size and the stitches will be loose. The doctor will take a pair of scissors and cut the stitches apart then using tweezers pull then from the skin. You won't feel a thing.
If your squeamish ask the doctor if he/she can spray the area with a numbing spray they have. You won't need it but if it makes you more comfortable I'm sure the doctor will do so. ]
They just cut them out. I've had fourteen stitches total in my life, and it's never hurt getting them out. ]
