Get cash back, when returning an item you bought with a gift card.

Question Posted Tuesday July 19 2011, 12:36 am

I have $200 worth of money on gift cards to stores I don't even shop at. If I went to that store, bought an item with the gift card & later returned it, would I be getting cash back or would they put it back on the card ?

or you could go on craigslist and barter with someone. ask them to exchange the giftcard for the same amount of money in cash. maybe someone else would like the gift cards.

Most stores will return it on the gift card, unless it's under a certain amount of money, usually under $5.

Why would they give cash back, when they want you to spend money at their store?

Although, if you don't want the gift cards, and you'd rather have the cash, there is a website that trades 'em. Might want to look into that.
