Irregular Periods

Question Posted Monday July 18 2011, 1:05 am

Okay, some basic information you may need or not. I am 16/f (virgin NO Possiblity I am pregnant) I am a little over weight but in the past year I have gotten on a regular exercize routine, so the weight is slowly going down. I drink a lot of pop. I am moderately stressed I would say over my relationship issues... but that's constant I am used to it now.

Anyways my periods are never right. I had my period in the beginning of May and then I had it again on June 6th but I still haven't gotten it this month. It does this a lot ever since I was 12 and got my first period. I used to go for 4-5 months between periods but now it's down to 2-3 months apart. Then there are the occasional months they are normal... I just don't understand! Is this a problem, will I be able to have health children ( is that a stupid question)??? What am I doing wrong?

Many girls have irregular periods.

First off, when you first start your period, it can take years to get on a regular schedule.

Exercising can sometimes delay your period, as well as stress.

It isn't abnormal to skip months or be irregular. This happens. You may find that as you get older it gets more regular, or that you are just one of the people who always have irregular periods.

I think your health is fine now, but next time you go to the doctors, talk about it. When you reach the age where you want to have kids, you will probably have already seen a gynecologist and know if you can have kids or have some issues with that. I wouldn't worry about it too much now.

Good luck,

-Abby
