why break up with him over something he can't help? My boyfriend suffers from multi-personality disorder. We almost broke up last night but finally he told me what was going on even after he told me I deserve so much better than him. But somehow I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
He told me his disorder causes him to have different personalities. When we first started dating, he was all over me and complimenting me and showering me with love even when we weren't with each other in person. And then just suddenly he changed and I felt like he lost interest in me. But he told me this person he is right now "doesn't feel like talking, doesn't feel like fixing things" and if he isn't accepted as he is then we're not going to work out, and eventually if I give him time and space he'll be back to normal and he loves me very much. I thought it'd be wrong to break up with someone for something they can't help. He didn't asked to have this disorder. At first I thought it was just an excuse but I know now it took a lot to fess up and tell me. I know now he really trusts me. So I have decided to give him time and space and see where it goes.
Still, I don't know if I made the right decision... What do you think?

In my opinion I wouldn't date him. You may love him but you have to let go of what you love for your benefit an his. Personality disorders change a lot, and could put you in danger, especially if he is not taking any type of medication.
If you return to dating him just be careful of what you say or do because you can never tell when his personality may change.
Do what you need to mend your heart.
Good luck my dear.

Youre right he didnt ask for this problem. But if you are not happy its not fair to you to feel trapped in a relationship. You could go to couples counseling and see what it is that can help you cope with his problem and what he can do to make it easier on you if you want to stay with him. But if you cant handle it and you are not happy it will not be wrong for you to step out. good luck and best wishes ]
