I am a girl age 19 and my boyfriend is turning 18. He is my best friend and I do think I have love for him, but lately I don't want to be tied down anymore and I've started to wish I was single. It's not really my boyfriends fault, but since I've been dating him, I don't do things I used to love and I don't really see my friends as much as I would if I didn't have such a close relationship with my bf. He's such a sweet guy and I'm lucky to be dating him, so I felt like I should be honest and tell him I need space. So I did and i thought things were better, but now he says we "need to have another talk" and he concluded that he feels kinda like im using him just so that i am not alone...since I want to date him but I don't want to be like super clingy and super committed and telling him I want to stay with him forever and ever. Do you think I should try and work it out with him since he is such a great guy, or should we break up because we both want different things? My family says I should work things out or at least wait it out because they know how close we have been.
Never2bAlone answered Tuesday July 5 2011, 6:51 pm: You are so young. You have not experienced the world or even gotten the opportunity to meet new people. I think you did just right by letting him know you needed space. Why be tied down before you even know who you are? You have the rest of your life to settle down and be in a committed relationship. Right now is your time to live, learn, and have fun. He's a nice guy, ok thats all fine and well but what does that have to do with you? When you are ready to settle down if he is still available then great if not then it wasn't meant to be. But don't give of your youth so soon. HAVE FUN!
