Try this- stand in front of a mirror. Stare at yourself for a few seconds and just talk. Get comfortable with your voice, your face, your smile. In order to be comfortable around other people.. you need to get comfortable with yourself. (I know it may sound weird because you're talking to yourself, but this helps boost your self confidence and self-esteem). Once you can talk to yourself in a mirror for a few minutes and not get shy or embarassed, you can move to the next level. Try talking to strangers. Go to a big mall and find someone and just casually start a conversation. Its easier if you start slow- like asking someone who works there about an item. or even just waving to a stranger, smiling, then walking away. THe thing about talking to strangers is that you'll never see the person again, so it doesn't really matter if you embarass yourself or not haha. its great practice.
Once you get comfortable talking to people, just tell your boyfriend that you've been shy around him but you're getting better.
