yeast infections

Question Posted Thursday June 2 2011, 6:42 pm

19 female.
okay so i have been having yeast infections so much for the past year. the last one was back in febuary but i have another one now..what causes them? i don't know if it is because i do not have any calcium in my body? i dont like anything in dairy. is it from too much sex or foreplay? i just don't know what to do! i get them frequently and the feeling kills, ive been to the doctors like 3 times because i didnt know what was wrong with me and everytime it was a yeast infection. she told me to buy these things at CVS that i put in my vagina that is suppose to make it better. the times ive done that it burns but it always cures it. is there a pill somewhere i can take that will make it go away? i just need some advice :( thanks!

try peeing right after sex. it flushes out bacteria and helps prevent infections.

Are you on antibiotics? For some reason antibiotics cause yeast infections. I don't understand why but they do. Wearing white cotton underwear helps. I was wearing those cute spandex underwear and spandex traps the moisture which causes yeaster infections. Eating yogurt also helps against yeast infections. I know you said you don't like dairy but maybe you like yogurt? I don't like most dairy but I do have yogurt when I have a yeast infection.

If you have had more that 4 yeast infections in a year (I think?), you should go to your doctor and let him/her know. Just asking the doctor, "How come I keep getting these, is there any way to prevent them?" will help YOU a lot. Sometimes with doctor's you have to be your own doctor and make the real doctor do it's job.

I recently used "Miconazole Nitrate Vaginal Cream" Yes, it burns a little and I just applied it to the outside area for 3 days and my yeast infection was gone. It's also a generic brand of Monistat.

I cannot remember the name of the pill that I used but I'm pretty sure my doctor had to prescribe it to me.

I've used both the cream and the pill for yeast infections.

You can take lactobacillus pills, which contain dairy cultures which are supposed to help manage the levels of good and bad bacteria in the vagina. This might be good since you don't like dairy. The lactobacillus, not calcium, in dairy is why people will often recommend yogurt to someone who suffers from frequent yeast infections.
