Question Posted Wednesday June 1 2011, 11:18 pm

so i know this is a dumb reason...but my boyfriend broke up with me. I really need something to do to keep my mind off things. I have a part time job and im taking a summer class..I'm staying in town where my college is, and I don't know too many people who are staying around here...any ideas of things to do? i know this is also dumb...but where are good places to meet people my age..about 21..but not at a bar?

I'm a really hands-on type of person so when I get stressed out, I love to make art. Painting, photography, puzzles, drawing, scrapbooking, making jewlery. all of those things just get my hands moving and i start to lose track of time that way and it makes me happy :) put on some music and dance. read. sing. go to a karyoke place. go to coffeeshops that have live bands playing. My absolute favorite thing to do right now is just take my camera with me and drive somewhere randomly. Eventually i'll end up somewhere and i'll just walk outside taking random pictures. I feel so free when I do that and it gives me a chance to have "me" time and its just relaxing for me. Oh and another thing that was already mentioned is going to the gym. Working out causes your endorphins to work which stimulates pleasure. Also there are most likely good looking guys there. If you really want to make a statement, wear a cute outfit, work out, and then go play basketball in the gym and ask to play a game with the guys. Biking is also another good thing. Just explore your environment and things will come to you :) Don't think, just do.

The gym. Best place to get over a breakup, and also make yourself feel better. Not only are you getting excercise, but you are surrounded by toned, fit, beautiful people who you can all meet. And plus the gym is always packed, so you never feel like you are alone.
You can also go to a park. If you live in a big city, there are parks where people go and relax and enjoy the weather. There are people there, but mostly old people.
Or if you have a local starbucks around, there are always college students there drinking coffee and trying to study. You can easily meet people there, buy them coffee, have a chat with them, and even study with them.
Overall, i think you're best bet to meet guys, is at the gym. But for friends, go to starbucks, or just let it come to you. There is no really specific place, you generally just meet people along the way. Hope I helped!
