i have been liking this guy for 2 years and im just now starting to get over him because he got a girlfriend but they had been kind of off and on so i think they have been off for like 3 months now. and the friendship between me and the guy has pretty much be non existant since freshman year anyway this guy has been flirting with me a little bit a couple of times. he implied we should go to prom together and that i would look pretty in my prom dress. then one day he said he wanted my number. i asked him if he was serious and he said yeah. so i let him have my phone to plug his number in. so i thought this was gonna be the beginning of a friendship but now hes just kind of being rude to me by making rude remarks and i was confused. i thought that him giving me his number was a sign he wanted to be friends not be a douche bag. do you think he was trying to work on a friendship? what should i do from here?
Additional info, added Saturday May 14 2011, 4:04 pm: he also said i should text him sometime and yeah the comments are in person. Want to answer more questions in the Relationships category? If he implied that you should go to prom together, has he asked you? Have you asked him? Does his girlfriend know you guys have been talking? Let me just say from experience that if he's flirting with you, then there's SOMETHING. There's gotta be. I know a lot of people think that guys just flirt for no reason because they're bored, but that is NOT true. They flirt because they have SOMETHING for you. It may not be a big something, but it's SOMETHING and yes, that's a good sign. Has he been making the rude remarks in person? Maybe if they were on facebook, or texting, then it might have been his girlfriend..? I know some couples give each other their passwords for facebook, and let them borrow each other's phones. Could that be it? If it was in person, then that is definitely a problem. Maybe he was just in a bad mood or something! I doubt you should take it personally. But if it's happened a little more than two or three times, just ask him why he's been saying that stuff. To be honest, if I were you I wouldn't worry too much, but I'd just flat out tell/ask him everything that's on my mind. Maybe sending him a message or something? Just tell him the truth, that you've liked him for a while and you thought that he kinda liked you because he was flirting a little. Tell him you were hurt from whatever it was that he said. Ask him if there's any chance of you two being together. I know it sounds really stupid and ridiculous to do, but it's actually a great idea. Just tell him everything, get it all off of your mind. It will show him exactly what you think, and at the same time, clear your mind. You'll feel better about it after you get it all out. If that doesn't work, then I'd suggest you move on. I know, I know, YOU CAN'T. You've liked him for so long and you don't know how you can get over him right? I've heard that come out of my mouth for YEARS. But the truth is, if he's just going to waste your time/life away, then don't worry about him. Don't let him take up ANOTHER two years of your life. It will all get better in the end. If it's not good right now, then it's not the end yet. Remember that. :) [ walkonthefire's advice column | Ask walkonthefire A Question ]
