Pregnant and cant quit cigarettes :(

Question Posted Friday April 29 2011, 9:27 pm

I'm 18 years old and 35 weeks pregnant. I've been trying to quit smoking my whole pregnancy but i throw up for days everytime i try and winde up starting again. I love my baby girl and im so scared she's going to have asthma or need to be on a machine after she's born. I'm so ashamed of myself but i have no idea what to do. Any advice on how to quit? And any info on what can happen since ive been smoking?

Advice from an ex's sister whom was pregenant.
*If you quit smoking well in pregnancy it can actually Harm the baby more than help it.*
I would suggest slowing down how much you smoke,.

But not necessarly quiting all together.
My ex's sister smoked all through out her pregnancy and the baby is completely healthy.

Hope this helps:)

I have a friend that smoked her entire first pregnancy, but thank god the little girl was born without any complications. Not all babies are so lucky. Talk to your doctor about any ways that can help you since you're pregnant.

Maybe if you can't stop cold turkey, try cutting out one cigarette a day. That's a good place to start. Keep yourself busy with other things with the urge comes up. If you can go a couple days without one cigarette a day, try to cut down one more... and so forth.

Check out that website, and consider if those side effects are worth your habit.

Best of luck.
