Are birth control pills still effective during menstruation?

Question Posted Wednesday January 12 2011, 1:48 pm

I just need this clarified for myself, I have not actually been in this situation.
I was thinking the other day, if you are taking the pill consistently, don't miss any and take them around the same time each day, when you are on your period and have unprotected sex, are the pills still effective? I know it isn't 100% safe anyway, but would they still prevent pregnancy, even if you're on your period?

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Yes, you would still be covered.

The Pill covers you for your entire cycle, even on the 7 'off' days.
