Anxiety over new school schedule

Question Posted Tuesday January 11 2011, 5:20 pm

I have really bad anxiety, and my semester is coming to an end and a new semester is coming up. I get really anxious and nervous about who will be in my class, especially since all of the friends I've already asked have no classes with me. Is there anything to do to not be so anxious and just go with the flow.

Well, chances are you're still gonna be a little anxious no matter what. Just know that as impossible as it may seem, you WILL make friends, even if they're just more distant acquaintances, in many of your new classes. Heck, you might even sit by someone you once just said "hi" to in the hallways, and there ya go: you won't be alone! :)

Also, remind yourself that even if the schedule turns out to be truly awful, it isn't forever.

If you're unlucky enough to get classes where you're lonely, just be sure you always have something to do in your free time in that class. Read a book, write a song, do homework... Know you won't be the only one in the world who is feeling anxious and lonely. There's bound to be someone else in one of your classes feeling the same way you do.

If that's too long and you didn't read it, here's the short version: YOU'LL BE JUST FINE. :) Take a deep breath and remember you aren't alone.
