Why does it take me forever to get comfortable at night before sleep? It seems like it takes me FOREVER to get comfortable in bed enough to fall asleep. I mean, seriously, sometimes I'm awake for 2 hours tossing and turning trying to get in a comfortable position. It's really weird. I was wondering why this happens? Even when I'm already tired I just can't get in the right spot. Is this normal? Should I talk to a doctor? I know my dad takes forever to go to sleep too but because he has a bad back...do you think my back is messed up too maybe and I don't know it? :-\

I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping but I found this cool trick that you can do and it really helps. Lie on your back in bed, and when you go to turn or move.... DON'T. That basically tells your brain that you're already asleep and your body will actually force you to sleep really fast. I went from sleeping like 3-4 hours a night to falling asleep in like twenty minutes top. ]
It could be because your brain is still distracted from your daily life.
Before you go to bed, an hour or two earlier, start thinking to yourself "I'll go to sleep at 11pm" or whatever. At least half an hour before actually going to bed, or even earlier if possible, stop watching tv and get off your computer, because it will be distracting your brain with the bright lights, constant motion and new ideas. Instead, listen to soothing music on low volume, or read a book in bed.
This is a much more soothing way to go to sleep, and it really does help if you are calm, and you're not stressing your brain. ]
had the same problem for a while, maybe the following will help:
you're waiting until you're tired to go to bed.. try working out about two hours prior to your planned bed time. not a light workout either, I mean push yourself until you're too worn out to do anything else. relax and read a book afterwards, have a light snack, and when you feel you're going to pass out where you're standing, get in bed. if you're still awake after 30 minutes, get back out of bed and do something until you're tired.
after a while, your body will get the message that bed equals sleep, and you should be fine.
