Travel: Europe or China?

Question Posted Monday December 13 2010, 11:42 am

Hi,19/m. im currently taking a couple years out before going to university. my aim is to save money, as well as to get some work experience etc.
I've got some money saved up, and am willing to save more for travelling.

Im unsure about whether to travel in Europe, or China? I live in the UK, so 2 weeks in Europe would be convenient, as its quite close. I would probably spent a few days in France, a few days in Italy, a few in Spain.

China however would be a once in a life time opportunity. I don't have much of a preference, i would generally love to spend time in Europe and China.

However, I will be going on my own (most probably). I have one friend who will have the finances to come with me, but the problem is that he only wants to spend his time in one place i.e. all the time in France. I'm also learning mandarin Chinese, so china would be a good way to develop my knowledge. But i also speak Italian, and SOME French and German?

Any idea's to help me make up my mind? Thanks folks! Much appreciated :)

Make a pro/con list. Which culture don't you have much knowledge of? Which culture would you like to learn the most about? Which experience do you think will give you an advantage in your life?

Do some background research and see which place intrigues you the most. Which one are you more curious to learn about?

China!

Europe is past, China is the future.
