Makeup For Dry Skin

Question Posted Saturday November 27 2010, 7:48 pm

I'm 15 and got a facial from my local mall. When I was done, I obviously had to get something from there lol. So, the brand is something called Clarins Paris. What I bought was a moisterizer called HydraQuench Cream and it came with two free things, HydraQuench Cream-Mask and HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase. Then there's Gentle Foaming Cleanser that came with a free Toning Lotion(for anyone who wants to look it up, it's the yellow one). And finally, the Hydra-Care Tinted Moisturizer SPF 6. Now, I'm very confused on what to put on first and when. What I usually did was put on Neutrogena foundation on my face and then eyeliner, mascara, and then this Neutrogena powder. However, now I have all of these different things. Since I have the two moisterizers, one tinted and one not, is it necessary to have both? I try not to put so much things on my face but I do want my dry skin to go away. Can someone please tell me what each one of the things do for you? and are they necessary or just a preferance?

You should cleanse, tone and moisturise every morning and before you go to bed. So as a general rule, use the foaming cleanser, followed by the toning lotion or HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase and finish with a moisturiser. It's up to you whether you use the toning lotion or serum really, but as the other products you're using are HydraQuench, you might find the serum works best with them. If you skip any step, then skip the toner. Cleansing and moisturising are really essential for keeping your skin in good condition but toning is really just an extra.

Tinted moisturiser contains a small amount of foundation and should be used in its place. So if you're using it, cleanse and tone as usual in the morning then just put the tinted moisturiser on. There's no need to put foundation over the top. At night you should be using the HydraQuench Cream after cleansing and toning.

According to the Clarin's website, this is how you should be using the Cream Mask:
Apply once or twice a week to clean, dry skin (avoiding the eye area). Leave 5-10 minutes and then remove any lasting traces with a cotton pad dampened in Toning Lotion.
