Hiring Freeze!

I'm 16, the age where most jobs can hire you. It seems like every job i try and apply to is under a "Hiring Freeze." I will be getting my license soon, and my own car and I will need to pay for gas and insurance. I have yet to go around my town and scope out where I could work. Anyone else have any suggestions? I'm so frusterated and stumped on what to do. Also, my mom doesn't want me working in a Union, so that limits grocery stores.

Jobs are hard to come by now because of the economy. My advice to you is to keep looking, keep asking around and keep filling in applications. Eventually, one will call you back for an interview. Good luck finding a job.
