buying a cell phone

Hi, Im looking to buy a cellphone in my name when i turn 18. Has anyone that just turned 18 bought a cell phone/plan from verizon? How much was it for the credit activation thing besides the phone so i can know how much i am looking at. Thanks Im looking to get the droid incredible if that helps at all.

When I turned 18 I did the same thing and the security deposit was 400$, and this was with no credit (not bad credit, zero credit). Once I paid that, and paid my bill every month on time for a year, I got it back with interest (:
