Question Posted Thursday October 14 2010, 6:38 pm

im a great student and this year although im trying my best im doing badly. i usually get anywhere from A+s to B+s , but this year my grades for the quarter will be in the B- range, and will bring down my GPA drastically. i go ask for extra help, do my homework, pay attention, but i just can't do it (junior yr high school) . i have so much on my plate and i dont know what to do. will i be screwed for college if this semester i do not do well? will i eventually improve if i keep trying? asdfafasgadsdgfadadfhnfgshtyrj

during your junior year is when the major pressure starts coming. you need to start looking at colleges, stop screwing around and try to get better grades, study, the ACT, SAT, other tests, look at campuses, its a big mess. this is when i decided not to go to college, i'm now a senior in highschool and i'm still sticking with this decision. i was exactly where you're at and cracked under all the pressure. but just because i'm choosing not to go doesn't mean i condone that choice, i know i'll most likely be screwed for life and i'm ready for things to get worse for me.

you sound like you attempt to manage your time wisely. for hope scholarship, you'll need a 3.0 or higher. as long as you try your best and manage your time wisely, you'll improve. eventually, this will settle into a certain schedule in your brain and you'll become better prepared for tests. its still only the beginning of the year, you have plenty of time to work on your grades. what they say is that in the odd numbered grades, 1,3,5,7,9,11 is that you learn in all of these. in the even numbered grades, its mostly review. so next year, it should be easier for you. also take advantage of the ACT prep class opportunities. colleges love looking at those test scores.

good luck, i'm sure you'll do perfectly fine. B-'s aren't bad at all, trust me.
