Can water pills cause dry skin?

Question Posted Wednesday October 13 2010, 3:38 pm

I been taking these water pills for like 2 weeks now because I feel bloated and it's helped me lose a little weight fast. My skin is really weird now though like ashy and dry. It's annoying because when I rub my arm against something it starts to itchy and I can see the start of little flakes of the dead skin. Is this caused by the water pills or is it just the weather changing? How can I make this stop because I know dry skin leads to wrinkles and yeah.

Your problem is very likely linked to both.

The water pills will take water from anywhere in your body to fulfill their quota. The weather will also cause your skin to get dry.

The best ways to fix this are to start using a lotion and to stop taking water pills. Instead, try drinking tons of water, eliminating soda, eating lots of fibre and keeping your salt intake down. That will work wonders for bloating. I've lost as much as 10 lbs in 2 days just by increasing my water intake. When you're dehydrated, your body will compensate by retaining water and bloating.
