A hickey is pretty much just a bruise. Blood vessels break open and some blood rises to the surface. The bruising of a hickey is taken away by healthy cells when they clean out that spot, which can take quite a bit.
Sometimes it will take a day or more for a bruise to be seen, even thought here is settling blood beneath the skin surface. The same is possible to happen with a hickey. It isn't as likely, especially if the sucking motion was hard, but it is possible.
If you feel the bruising spot is not a hickey then it may just be a bruise. If you think it may be more than that then it's best if you speak with a doctor about it to ensure your own health. Remember, you are important and you have to rely on yourself to take care of yourself. [ Peeps's advice column | Ask Peeps A Question ]
