Facebook Stalking

Question Posted Tuesday September 7 2010, 4:03 pm

Yes, I know, I'm a facebook stalker. I usually stalk one guy in particular though...I feel kind of guilty about it because I know all this unnecessary information about him and we aren't exactly close. Also, I don't know how this will affect any future friendship/relationship that we may have. Sometimes I actually talk to him on facebook, but I stalk him more often than I talk to him. I heard him say that people have better things to do than stalk him (in a different context in no way directed towards me) and that just made me think "crap.I'm pathetic?"

Should I be feeling badly about this. DO YOU facebook stalk? Exactly how common is this phenomena?

It's common - I know loads of people who do it. It's just going that little extra step to keep check on a crush for example. It's not exactly anything to be embarrassed about - just don't let it become an obsession. It's fine to check someones profile every now and then, but when you're rushing home from school/work, are late because you're checking his profile etc, it will become a problem ;)
Just tone it down a bit and remember, Facebook's just a bit of fun. Don't be so harsh on yourself over it.

Well, at least you admit it.

I think that maybe it'll help if you try to get to know him in real life. And when you do, be careful not to mention all the things you know abotu him because it might freak him out.

I don't think you're pathetic. A lot of people do it. But you should never go too far. Would you like it if people looked through your profile, pictures, wall, and friends? Keep it at a minimum and it shoudl be fine.

I actually don't lol. I don't see the reason for it because I usually don't have enough time to facebook stalk, but I do know tons of people that too. Facebook setttings make it quite easy to do so.

haha yes you're not the only one. people don't like to admit it though obviously because they don't want to come off as a creepy and stalker. but honestly it's not really stalking because people are aware that what they're putting on facebook is public.
