The fees are usually based on the prizes and the venue if you are renting the location.
Typically you would consider the cost of the trophies/ribbons for the expected entrants, add that to the rental costs involved, if any, then you have your number.
Important to note that if you are charging for entry, you should make sure everyone gets something to take home.
Kinda like a car show... everyone gets a trophy for showing up. It is part of the process in paid events.
Your local trophy shop will be able to help you figure it all out. Give them a call, or better yet stop by so you can SEE the trophies in question. Don't be shy if you have NO idea what you are looking for.
Just tell them your budget, and the kind of event, and they will figure the rest out for you.
