Keep asking for it so it shows you really want it. Tell her everything you can about hermit crabs and you'll be good. Don't let anything happen to not convince her. My advice to you is don't let anyone stop you getting it , and please if you really want it show her you really want it , convince her you know her best with what she gets convinced with the most.
Good luck girl : ) [ snowboardbabe's advice column | Ask snowboardbabe A Question ]

You will also have to let her know the responsabilities involved and how much of it you are willing to do. Make sure you do actually keep up on your promise because you don't want to go back on your word. It will also be helpful if you look into how much they cost or what purchases you will need to make. Can you pay for some of it on your own? If you, perhaps your mom will be more willing to let you get one.
NinjaNeer answered Monday August 23 2010, 11:09 pm: I have 12 hermies, and I think they're the best small pet ever.
Pros:
- They don't smell, unlike rodents and the like. You change their substrate twice a year, and that takes care of any possible dirt.
- They don't eat much, and what little they do eat isn't specialty food. They can eat little scraps of fruits, veggies and untreated, cooked meat. Mine love peanut butter!
- They're quiet. I have heard one noise out of the terrarium in almost a year of ownership.
- They're far more interactive than a fish, and much less work.
Now, I know you say that you know everything about them, but there's a lot of bad information out there. You need to provide both salt and fresh water (not tap water... make sure it's purified), and make sure that the humidity stays within a good range. Also, don't use sand in the terrarium, because it's irritating to them. Get a coconut husk based substrate instead, because it helps to retain moisture.
Also, you don't want to get just one hermie. They're pack critters, so they're happiest in groups of 2 or more.
