This JUST happened to me a few days ago. I was pushed into the lake with my cell in my pocket. I gave it to my dad and he just put it in a heated BBQ for half and hour to an hour and it worked! The battery was out of the phone but still in the BBQ, and the SIM card was not in the BBQ.

Whatever you do, don't put it in the freezer. The water will freeze and possibly crack the components in your phone.

How long did you leave it in rice for? Was your phone on when you dropped it?

The rice trick works. It takes as long as 4 or 5 days for it to fully dry out, though. I recently fixed a camera that was dropped in a lake this way. However, if the phone was on when it was dropped, it may have shorted out your phone, in which case it will need to be repaired by a professional or replaced.
